Get to know Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Bachir Younes, who serves patients in Palm Desert, California.

An established infectious disease specialist with over 19 years of experience in the care and treatment of HIV, bacteria, viral and parasitic infections. He is highly regarded by his patients and has numerous published scientific research papers in the study of infectious disease. His practice also includes infusion services, hyperbaric O2 therapy that can address a multitude of medical problems including acceleration of healing wounds and diabetic ulcers, increasing circulation and even stimulation of the immune system.

Graduating with his medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, he relocated to the United States and completed his residency in internal medicine (Chief Resident) and his fellowship in infectious disease at Kansas University. He also holds a Master of Public Health degree (MPH) from the same educational venue.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in infectious disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

On a professional level, Dr. Younes is an active member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the California Medical Association, the Riverside County Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians.

The doctor is dedicated in the treatment of infectious disease not only on a patient level but on a community level. His service to the community hospitals leading programs in antibiotic therapy and addressing infection outbreaks has made him a leader in addressing public health concerns in the community.

Infectious disease is a medical specialty dealing with the prevention, the diagnosis, and the treatment of all infections. An infectious disease specialist’s practice also consists of managing nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections.
