Get to know Family Practitioner Dr. James A. Martin, who serves patients in Yuma, Arizona. 

Dr. Martin is an experienced family practitioner who is affiliated with Yuma Regional Medical Center.

Yuma Regional Medical Center is a 406-bed, not-for-profit hospital staffed by 2,400 employees, over 400 medical practitioners, and hundreds of volunteers who are dedicated to serving the residents and visitors of Yuma, Arizona and the surrounding area. Its mission is “to improve the health and well-being of individuals, families and the communities we serve through excellence, innovation and prudent use of resources.”

Back in 1960, Dr. Martin graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine. He then went on to perform his residency in family medicine at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

A Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (FACOFP), he is board-certified in family practice and osteopathic manipulative medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP). The AOBFP is an organization that provides board certification to qualified osteopathic physicians who specialize in delivering comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages, genders, and addressing all parts of the body.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
