Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Astha Gupta, who serves the Philadelphia area at Einstein Health. Dr. Gupta graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College in 2008 and continued her studies with a residency in internal medicine at New York Medical College. She did her fellowship in Nephrology and Renal Transplantation at Thomas Jefferson University. She is board certified in both internal medicine and nephrology from the American Board of Internal Medicine. She holds a Pennsylvania medical license through 2020. With her current practice, Dr. Gupta provides best possible, evidence-based care to patients suffering with chronic kidney disease at her outpatient clinic, dialysis center and in the hospital. She is the Director of Home Dialysis at her Medical Center, managing patients on home peritoneal dialysis. She harbors great interest in Kidney Transplantation and Immunosuppression and is actively involved in managing patient post kidney transplantation. To stay current in her field, she maintains professional memberships in various medical organizations. Throughout her practice, she ensures patients are treated with the most up-to-date medical techniques and treatments. Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys: the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy (dialysis and kidney transplantation). Nephrology also studies systemic conditions that affect the kidneys, such as diabetes and autoimmune disease; and systemic diseases that occur as a result of kidney disease, such as renal osteodystrophy and hypertension. Dr. Gupta enjoys serving her patients and ensures they are treated with respect and dignity. When she is not serving patients, she enjoys spending time with friends and family members.
