After obtaining aBachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Dr. Colino then pursued studies in Inorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Biology, Physiology, Embryology, and Biostatistics at the University of the District of Columbia from 1990 to 1993, with his studies earning him the Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honors Society award. He studied Organic Chemistry at George Washington University in 1992. While taking these post-BA science requirements, Dr. Colino worked as head veterinary technician from 1990 to 1993 at an animal hospital in the Washington DC area, worked as a phlebotomist and medical technician at SmithKline Beecham clinical laboratories in San Francisco from 1993 to 1994. He later worked as a Staff Research Associate at the Osteoporosis Research Group at the University of California, San Francisco, where his knowledge of biostatistics and expertise in Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) machines, Quality Assurance and Quality Control lead to international travels and lectures on controlled studies in medicine.
Dr. Colino furthered his academic pursuits with studies in Calculus at the University of California, Berkeley, and Physics at City College of San Francisco from 1993 to 1995. He earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of California Davis School of Medicine in 2000. He completed postgraduate training with an internship in internal medicine and a residency in neurology at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine from 2000 to 2004, working at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Miami Veterans Administration Hospital.
