Dr. JoAnne M. Lopes, is not only a renowned board certified plastic surgeon but also a mother of three whose unique blend of expertise and empathy sets her apart in the field of cosmetic surgery. Dr. Lopes’ academic journey started with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Old Dominion University in 1979, followed by a Medical Degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1989. Her extensive training includes an internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Connecticut, and fellowships in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery from renowned institutions such as Medical College of Virginia and Eastern Virginia Medical School.

As a licensed practitioner in Virginia, Dr. Lopes is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and holds fellowships and active memberships in prestigious organizations like the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgery, and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

In addition to her professional accolades, Dr. Lopes is committed to giving back to her community through her past and recent involvement with organizations like Operation Smile , the YMCA Silver Beach Camp Doctor program and volunteering at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters with her therapy dog “Sophie”. Her dedication to excellence is further reflected in her contribution as a clinical investigator in the original FDA Botox® Cosmetic studies .
