Upon relocating to the United States, Dr. Traugott conducted research on the immunology and immunopathology of MS and related diseases at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in The Bronx, New York City, New York.
For her groundbreaking MS research providing the first detailed description of the composition of inflammatory cells in active MS lesions, Dr. Traugott was awarded Fellow Status by the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN). This helped classify MS as an autoimmune disease and has led the way to the introduction of disease modifying agents for this disease.
