Teeth cleaning and wearing a partial?
Dear patient, There are different reasons why teeth are wearing out at the gum levels/line, examples are: -Aggressive scaling at hygiene appt, especially when root surfaces are exposure. -Abfraction lesions are concavities at the gum line when malocclusion is present. -Abrasion lesions are concavities related to hard brushing/horizontal strokes at the gum line. -The brown color could be the dark yellow color of the root surfaces where gums are residing. There are allergy cases related to metal from crowns and partials specially in women. After an extraction, the bone around the extraction site/soft tissue will re-shape, meaning the extraction site/ridge will change, usually it will shrink, so the partial denture will not longer fit right. All depends on the planning ahead and communication from dentist to patient to understand the whole process....obviously the partial doesn't fit right any more, but at this point, we don't know what kind of partial you got, some material can be reline and other can't. bottom line, you need to see a dentist for an assessment of the condition. Have a great day, Dr. Santiago M. Gardois READ MORE
