Washington Nephrology Associates is a partnership of physicians practicing nephrology in the Greater Metropolitan DC and Baltimore area since 1984. Their mission is to provide exceptional and compassionate care to patients with kidney disease and related conditions.

Growing up in India, Dr. Gohel graduated with his medical degree from Medical College Baroda in 2003. He came to the United States in 2007, after which he completed his residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in New York. From 2009 until 2013, he performed his fellowship in geriatric medicine at George Washington University, and then an additional fellowship in nephrology at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania from 2013-2015. 

Integrating clinical knowledge and skills, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, nephrology, and geriatric medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, Dr. Gohel’s main research interests are in glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney disease, kidney transplant, hypertension, and kidney stones. He is affiliated with University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center and Anne Arundel Medical Center. He also teaches medical students and resident doctors at AAMC. 

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care or kidney transplantation when it becomes necessary.

In his free time, Dr. Gohel enjoys playing cricket, going to the beach, tailoring work and spending time with his family. He is currently fluent in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
