Get to know Pediatric Anesthesiologist Dr. Eric Bryan Ontiveros, who serves patients in Orange, California.

Dr. Ontiveros is a dual board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist whose clinical interests include cardiothoracic anesthesia for all age groups. He is currently the Chair of Anesthesiology & Director of Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia services at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

Children’s Hospital of Orange County, also known by its acronym CHOC or Children’s Hospital OC and branded as CHOC Children’s, is a pediatric acute care hospital located in Orange, California. The hospital has 316 beds and is affiliated with the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. Its mission is “to nurture, advance and protect the health and well-being of children.”

Pertaining to his educational background, Dr. Ontiveros received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, and did his internship in internal medicine at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, San Francisco. He then performed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of California, San Francisco, and his cardio sub-fellowship at the same educational venue. 

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in anesthesiology & pediatric anesthesiology through the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. 

In his professional experience, Dr. Ontiveros is affiliated with ASA, CSA, SPA, and SCA.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.
