Dr. Osborn, a board-certified anesthesiologist, is the Director of the Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Neuroanesthesia at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York City, New York.

She has more than 35 years of clinical experience in neuro anesthesia including anesthesia for awake craniotomy, cerebrovascular surgery, and spinal surgery. In addition, she has expertise in airway management, neuromonitoring, and anesthesia for diagnostic and interventional radiology.

“It is a privilege to be part of the evolution of neuroscience and to work closely with our neurosurgical colleagues. Together, we discover the unique challenges of our specialty and strive to learn from our patients, from our experiences and our collective humanity” she stated.

The Neuroanesthesia team works closely with members of the departments of neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, and orthopedic spine surgery to provide advanced and innovative care with a multidisciplinary approach. The faculty provide state-of-the-art care for the breadth of neurosurgeries including open and endovascular treatment of intracranial vascular disease, awake craniotomy for functional neurosurgery, and complex tumors of the brain and spine. 

Back in 1980, Dr. Osborn graduated with her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She then went on to perform her residency in anesthesiology at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Successful in her field, she is board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.

Holding an academic title, Dr. Osborn serves as a Professor within the Department of Anesthesiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. 

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.

Throughout her career, Dr. Osborn has conducted extensive research on a variety of topics including airway management, anesthetic considerations for functional neurosurgery, scalp nerve blockade, and neuroimaging.
