Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Wood spent weekend days as a young girl accompanying her father, on hospital rounds visiting patients and interacting with hospital staff. It was this early exposure to medicine and her father's passion for patient care that led her to pursue a career in medicine.
Accordingly, she attended Tufts University in Boston for her undergraduate education, and The Ohio State University College of Medicine for her medical degree. She completed her residency training in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at the University of Kansas.
During her time as a resident, Dr. Wood spent time rotating at Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City. She enjoyed her time working with patients, physicians, nurses and staff that she chose to stay in Kansas City and join the medical staff and Saint Luke's ENT Specialists after completing her residency.
Following her training, the doctor attained board certification in otolaryngology through the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, which is a non-profit corporation that has set the mission of ensuring professional standards with certificates and memberships and has offered training in the fields of head neck surgery to professionals since 1924.
