  • Is the GOLO pill safe?

The ingredients in that supplement have not undergone clinical trial testing and FDA approval. I cannot say that it would help with your goal of weight loss, but there are other approved treatments for your diabetes that can help with weight loss and still keep your diabetes under control. You may ask your physician if a GLP1-receptor agonist (there are several brands) or SGLT2 inhibitor might be an option for you in place of your insulin. Good work on keeping your A1C less than 7! • What test is most likely to diagnose diabetes?

Usually diabetes mellitus is diagnosed with a fasting glucose of 126 or higher, or a random sugar of 200 or over with symptoms (increased thirst or increased urination, weight loss) or a Hemoglobin A1C value of 6.5 or higher. READ MORE

  • How often can I have sugar with diabetes?

I personally don’t believe you need to eliminate sugar from your diet for most people with diabetes. It really is all about balance and moderation. There is typically “sugar” in just about everything you eat, which is used to fuel the body. I typically recommend literally eating your vegetables and protein first in your meal and eat starches/simple sugars later. Keep the serving size to 1-2 depending on your weight and caloric needs. • Covid Vaccine?

  • What tests should I take to see my thyroid levels?

The TSH of the most sensitive indicator of thyroid function. When first evaluating for thyroid disease I typically check a TSH, free T4 and thyroid antibodies (TPO and Thyroglobulin antibodies). A low TSH suggests overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) and high TSH suggests interactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). Elevated antibodies mean you’re at risk for thyroid disease. READ MORE

  • Can being on too much thyroid medicine cause quick episodes of dizziness?

Episodes of dizziness could be associated with too much thyroid hormone. Other symptoms can include rapid heart rate, anxiety and irritability. If you are concerned, ask your provider to check your TSH to confirm before making a dose change. If the TSH value is low, you may need a lower dose. READ MORE

  • What is the age of onset for diabetes?

Yes. Diabetes is in fact a risk factor for heart disease. READ MORE

  • Thyroid issue?

A TSH that low with an elevated uptake scan suggests hyperthyroidism. Treatments include radioactive iodine and surgery to definitively treat the disease as well as medical management with anti-thyroid medications. READ MORE
