Dr. Abadir received his medical degree in 2006 from Queen’s University School of Medicine in Kingston, Canada. He then went on to complete an internship in Internal Medicine at McMaster University Medical Center (2008), followed by his residency in Internal Medicine at the same medical center (2010). In 2012, Dr. Abadir completed his fellowship training in Gastroenterology at Toronto Western Hospital, followed by his fellowship training in Therapeutic Endoscopy at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (2013). Dr. Abadir is board-certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. Certification by the organization has meant that internists have demonstrated – to their peers and to the public – that they have the clinical judgment, skills and attitudes essential for the delivery of excellent patient care. Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. As a gastroenterologist, Dr. Abadir specializes in treating diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, which include the organs from mouth into anus, along the alimentary canal. He performs colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures, as well as provides accurate and thorough care for patients suffering from digestive issues. Dr. Abadir attributes his success to good training. He has always wanted to help people and became particularly interested in gastroenterology while conducting research in Toronto. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, attending shows, and spending time with his two young children.
