Get to know Dentist Dr. Vi Lau, who serves patients in La Mesa, California.

Specializing in family and cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Lau sees patients at Love Your Smile in La Mesa, California. Recognizing that a smile is one’s greatest asset, she treats the whole person with a special focus on how the teeth and gums relate to total body health and emotional health.

Love Your Smile offers a full range of general & cosmetic dental treatments such as teeth whitening, crowns, veneers, preventive care, and implants to help patients and their families achieve perfect smiles. “When I give my patient a handshake or a hug, that connection is real and it is a product of mutual respect and trust. And at that moment, we share a common goal of expecting the greatest dental care from that visit. And great dental care means personalized, comfortable, pain-free dental care. I feel successful when patients leave, not only with healthier teeth, but with a smile because the only thing they felt was the highest level of respect, compassion, and care from me and my team. And that is our mission in each and every visit at Love Your Smile” as stated by Dr. Lau.

Treating patients like they are her family, her highest priority is to provide pain-free dentistry in a gentle respectful manner. In order to do so, she remains a member of all top dental associations such as the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the San Diego Local Dental Society, and several others.

A San Diego native since 1989, Dr. Lau’s dedication to her work and conscientiousness shone through when she became Valedictorian of West Hills High School. She completed her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BA/BS) degrees at the University of San Diego and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the highly esteemed University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry. She furthered her education with an Advanced General Dentistry Residency at the University of Pacific in San Francisco, where she became very well-versed in cosmetic veneers, crowns and bridges, root canal treatment, gum therapy, oral surgery, and implant dentistry.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy. 

A mother of three young children, Dr. Lau loves taking care of adults and children alike. She fully understands the value of time and the importance of total family dental care in today’s busy schedule. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, swimming, and having great fun with her family.
