Get to know Optometrist Dr. Kathy Chriqui, who serves patients in California.

A committed optometrist, Dr. Chriqui is the Founder and Owner of Optometrics of Chatsworth, located in Northridge, California. She specializes in eye examinations for adults and children, contact lens fittings, dry eye treatment, myopia control for children, LASIK evaluations, and more.

Before embarking on her professional journey, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Science and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry.

In addition to her work in primary care optometry, Dr. Chriqui has co-managed Lasik procedures for over 15 years and only works with the most experienced surgeons who use state-of-the-art technology. She is also certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent, Lacrimal Dilation and Irrigation, and Glaucoma.

On a professional level, she is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, the Los Angeles County Optometric Society, and the San Fernando Valley Optometric Society.

Before settling in the San Fernando Valley, Dr. Chriqui practiced optometry in Beverly Hills for a decade. She also worked as a staff doctor at the Southern California College of Optometry and has been on staff at Cedar Sinai Medical Center for more than 25 years.

In addition to her professional achievements, she is also known for her commitment to the community. Since starting her practice in the Chatsworth and Northridge area, she has formed strong ties to the community and has become involved with local Chambers of Commerce. She also gives back to the community in unique ways, such as offering free glasses to nominated teachers and giving scholarships to outstanding high school students.

Optometry is a healthcare profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as diagnosing and managing eye disease. Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations to detect and treat various visual abnormalities and eye diseases. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist’s scope of practice may differ depending on the location. Thus, disorders or diseases detected outside the treatment scope of optometry (i.e. those requiring certain surgical interventions) are referred out to relevant medical professionals for proper care, more commonly to ophthalmologists who are physicians that specialize in the tertiary medical and surgical care of the eye. Optometrists typically work closely together with other eye care professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to deliver quality and efficient eye care to the general public.

When she is not at work, Dr. Chriqui enjoys traveling, cooking, and dancing.
