He then completed a three-year residency in podiatric surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

He has a number of educational honors and accomplishments to his name, including a Podiatric Merit Scholarship, a Scholarship Development Award, as well as induction to the Pi Delta Podiatry Honor Society, the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society, and the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.

An authority in his field, Dr. Roussel is board-certified in reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS). The ABFAS strives to protect and improve the health and welfare of the public by advancing the art and science of foot and ankle surgery.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (FACFAS), he is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Virginia Podiatric Medical Association. He is also affiliated with Inova Fairfax Hospital.
