Hi, The symptoms are certainly worrisome for narcolepsy and cataplexy syndrome. Other problems should be ruled out including anemia and obviously sleep apnea or central sleep apnea in addition to other disorders of sleep. Dr. Lipenko received his medical degree in 1992 at Odessa Medical University in Odessa, Ukraine, where he further completed a neurology residency. After relocating to the United States, he participated in neurophysiology research at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas before entering a neurology residency program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, which he completed in 2003. Furthermore, Dr. Lipenko’s extensive training covers cervical dystonia, botulinum toxin treatments, blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, and spasticity after stroke, as well as Botox® for chronic migraines and other pain syndromes.
Upon the completion of his training, Dr. Lipenko obtained board certification in neurology from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation that was founded in 1934 as a method of identifying qualified specialists in psychiatry and neurology.
