  • What happens after CT scan with contrast?

    There are two types of contrast for a CT scan, oral and intravenous. Contrast enables the Radiologist read the scan more accurately with better definition of the the bowel and vessels. There should be no side effect from contrast. However, some people allergic to IV contrast and may develop a reaction which is usually treatable. READ MORE

  • Can pneumonia be missed on a CT scan?

    CT is very good at diagnosing pneumonia. If the pneumonia is early or very small, the diagnosis may be difficult. Also, if the considation is adjacent to compression of the lung or other pathology, pneumonia may be difficult to differentiate. You Radiologist is an expert at reading CT and would be able to help with the diagnosis of pneumonia.   • What is the best imaging for kidney stones?

    CT and ultrasound are very good at detecting renal calculi. Sometimes both tests are used depending on your symptoms. Small calcs may be seen better with CT. CT would also be better to see ureteral calcs. But, ultrasound does not use radiation and is cheaper. Your doctor will order the appropriate test based on suspicion and the risk/benefit of exposing you to CT radiation. READ MORE

    This trace haziness associated with small bowel may be a mild secondary sign that there is something going on that may be the cause of your pain......Without bowel wall thickening is a good sign that the inflammation is not bad enough to thicken the bowel wall.     CT is used for virtual colonoscopy which is used to detecting polyps and uses a very specific technique. You would have to go to a center which can offer this test.     CT is no a long tube unlike MRI which can be a long tunnel like tube. People don’t typically get claustrophobic in the CT machine. The exam is so fast and the machine is relative thin. If you are prone to claustrophobia, MRI is the exam that people can get claustrophobic. READ MORE

  • What happens if you move during an MRI?

    The images get degraded when you move in the MRI. The best quality examination is when the patient can hold very still. When the patient moves, the images get blurry. If there is is too much motion, the technologist may have to repeat the exam. READ MORE

  • Can you talk during an MRI?

    The mri technologists will guide you through the exam. Listen to their directions. Motion degraded the exam. Even talking while the machine is generating images will degrade the exam. The motion of talking will effect the imaging quality. You want the best imaging quality for the best exam and correct diagnosis. Do not move during the exam to your best of your ability. If you need to talk or if something is wrong. No worries, the MRI technologist may have to repeat a portion of the exam to improve the quality. READ MORE

  • What happens if I eat before a CT scan?

    Better to be on an empty stomach before a CT scan. No food or drink 4 hours before the test. You will be laying on your back and do not want to aspirate previously eaten food, But, if you do eat, It should not effect the quality of the examination. READ MORE

    A chest X-ray is a very small dose of radiation. Your doctor has to weigh the risks and benefits to order this study. A large enough dose of X-ray exposure is a known risk to cause cancer. Your risk for one chest X-ray is incredibly small. READ MORE

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in diagnostic radiology through the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in 2001. The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
