    If it's Only from a Patella thermal issue then you would need to see your orthopedic surgeon for evaluation particularly with your age. If a true need this location in which the femur and the tibia disconnect from each other that is a whole different issue.     You will not correct it but can maintain flexibility and strength. READ MORE

  • I’ve had a separated ac joint grade 1 for 7 months

    When you hit one year, it's as good as it gets. With that said, you need and mri to check soft tissue status. You will probably need an arthroscopic of the shoulder to directly see the rotator cuff and the ac joint. If you had enough energy from injury to tear the ac ligament you may have torn other parts.     You can have injury to a growth plate of residual scar formation.. Since it has been almost 6 months I would see an orthopedic surgeon and had an MRI completed to evaluate the status of the soft tissue. An xray will only show bone. READ MORE

    I would recommend being seen by your primary physician who then can refer you to an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation. It can be a condition from the cervical spine, rotator cuff and possibly a peripheral neuropathy, ie carpal tunnel READ MORE

    Modify distance and speed of running. try to run on grass or track ( less impact) proper shoe ware and stretching prior . nsaids and voltaren gel (OTC in drug store). if still an issue see an orthopedic surgeon to make sure you do not have a stress fracture. READ MORE

Dr. Ward is a highly trained orthopedic surgeon who has been in practice for over three decades, seeing patients at Chesapeake Bay Orthopedics PC in Seaford, Delaware. 

He treats all upper and lower extremity fractures/trauma; sports injuries: knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow and hand; joint replacement (adult reconstructive surgery); as well as hand and upper extremity soft tissue disorders ( i.e. nerve compression – carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes, etc.). Before relocating to the shore, he had been in solo practice in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.

Academically, Dr. Ward graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Pennsylvania State University in 1985. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1989.

Furthering his training, he performed his internship at Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center in 1989-1990. He then completed his residency at the Kennedy Memorial Hospital System in Stratford, New Jersey, where he received specialty training in general fracture care, hand surgery, sports medicine, adult reconstructive surgery, as well as foot and ankle surgery.

Trained in Level I trauma care for orthopedic patients and robotic-arm assisted surgery, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). The AOBOS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. 

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Ward is an active member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Maryland Association of Osteopathic Physicians.
