An excellent gastroenterologist, Dr. Hashem currently serves as the Department Chair for Medical Specialties at Westmed Medical Group in Purchase, New York. His areas of specialization include ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, as well as pancreatic and biliary endoscopy.

A 1999 graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine, Dr. Hashem went on to perform his internship, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Yale New Haven Hospital, Saint Raphael Campus. He received the distinctive Samuel Kushlan Award for Excellence in Clinical Care. 

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Hashem is an active member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterological Association.

Before joining Westmed in September 2010, he was a clinical associate professor with Geisinger Health Care System/Temple University.
