Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Amanda Lovette, who serves patients in Decatur, Texas.

Dr. Lovette is a respected pediatrician practicing alongside Dr. Anissa August at Lovette and August Pediatrics. Since April of 2005, she has been privileged and blessed to watch and help a new generation of children grow and reach wonderful potential.

Lovette and August Pediatrics is a full service pediatric practice serving children from newborn to 18 years of age in Decatur, Texas and surrounding counties. “Our goal at Lovette and August Pediatrics is to provide your child with the most up-to-date, professional care available in the context of our signature friendly approach. We want your visit to our office to be as comfortable and efficient as possible!” as stated on their website.

A native Texan, born in Houston, Dr. Lovette detoured to many different places, including Norway, before she finally made her way back to Texas in 1988 to attend Baylor University in Waco. From there, she went on to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she obtained her medical degree. She then completed her residency in pediatrics at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, after which she worked for several years as a physician in a practice north of Dallas before coming to Decatur to start up her own medical clinic.

Striving daily to keep up her education in the latest pediatric practices and trends, Dr. Lovette aims to provide the most up-to-date care possible. She is a member of the Child Fatality Review Team, which reviews child deaths with the aim of discovering how a community can decrease the chances of such tragic deaths from happening again. She is also a member of the Junior Women’s Club, an organization whose main purpose is to raise funds for selected charities, supporting and giving back to the community.

In addition to medical care, Dr. Lovette teaches physician assistants and nurse practitioner students the art of pediatric medical care at her office, with the goal to encourage a new generation of health caregivers in not only the practical aspects of pediatrics, but also the emotional and personal aspects of that care. She also volunteers on the board of CASA of Wise and Jack County, an organization dedicated to being the voices and advocates of abused and neglected children in the community and through the legal system.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and a member of the Texas Medical Association, the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Lovette is a licensed private pilot as well as a celebrated photographer.

On a more personal note, Dr. Lovette met her husband, Trent, on eHarmony in January of 2003. They were married a year later, in 2004. They have been on many adventures, not the least of which was the raising of their two boys, Ethan and Joshua, and catering to their wide variety of interests, including football, baseball, and basketball. Ethan is married to Annie and is in medical school in Houston. Joshua is a student at the University of Arkansas and engaged to Haleigh. As a family, they enjoy traveling, fishing, hiking, skiing, and snowboarding when they can get to the mountains.
