How long does a bone graft last without an implant?
There are several factors that can cause variations in the answer including type of bone graft material that was used, type of graft, etc. For a typical extracted tooth with a bone graft, the bone builds up for about 5-6 months and begins to shrink back after that time period. READ MORE

There are a lot of variables. Different doctors use different strength whitening gels. Over the counter gels tend to take much longer. READ MORE

How do I know if I'm brushing my teeth too hard?
You should always use a very soft bristled tooth brush. A lite touch will get most of the daily build up off your teeth. You should see your hygienist regularly to remove any build up or treat periodontal disease. If you notice recession along your gums, that is the most common sign of brushing too hard. READ MORE
How long do fillings take to set?
Tooth colored fillings set immediately. Amalgam(silver) fillings take a couple of hours to set fully. READ MORE
Can an infected dental implant be saved?
Difficult to answer without seeing an X-ray/doing an exam. SOMETIMES we can save the implant with laser treatment or smoothing the top of the implant to allow the tissue to attach to the implant. A good bit of the time, we have to remove the implants and place a new one once the infection is removed. READ MORE
Is it normal for gums to hurt after dental anesthesia?
Yes. The tissue may be bruised and sometimes swollen at the injection site. READ MORE
Can a zirconia crown break?
Yes. Zirconia crowns are generally the hardest of all porcelain crowns. If you are worried about breaking a crown, consider a gold crown in the posterior teeth. They tend to not fracture. READ MORE
Can you fix chipped teeth?
Yes. We can bond the teeth. On anterior teeth, you need to be very careful not to bite into things like corn on the cob/apples, etc. because the fillings tend to chip/break in the front. For larger chips/fractures, consider 3-4 crowns/veneers. READ MORE
Does crown lengthening hurt?
Yes. The area will be sore for a week or so. READ MORE
How do you clean wisdom teeth holes?
Your dentist may give you a syringe to irrigate the site after you eat. I generally suggest using warm salt water and peridex. READ MORE

Depends on what type of filling material is used. You want to wait until you are no longer numb before you eat. This will help prevent biting your lip/cheek, etc. silver fillings need time to set. What is the difference between porcelain and zirconia crowns?
Zirconia is a porcelain crown. It is a very hard porcelain and is generally used on back teeth because they tent to be monochromatic. We use these when esthetics is not as big of a concern. Porcelain crowns (I.e. Emax) are generally more esthetic and used on anterior teeth. They are very good restorations. We can use layered zirconia crowns which is a good combination of both materials.
