A top professional in the field of interventional radiology, Dr. Colon-Pons is affiliated with Radiology Associates Inc., seeing patients at the Pacific Endovascular Clinic and The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Radiology Associates Inc. was founded in 1970 when four independent radiologists from The Queen's Medical Center came together to provide patients with access to the best possible radiological equipment and services. The practice works closely with the Queen’s Medical Center, the largest private hospital in Hawaii, as well as Molokai General Hospital and North Hawaii Community Hospital. They provide diagnostic services such as x-rays, CT scans, MRI’s, ultrasounds, and mammograms. They also offer various interventional radiology treatments such as uterine fibroid embolization and varicose vein treatment at the Pacific Endovascular Clinic.

Pertaining to his educational background, Dr. Colon-Pons received his undergraduate education from the University of Puerto Rico and attended medical school at the Ponce School of Medicine. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the Boston University Medical Center, and then continued his training with a fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of California, San Diego.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology from the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

Interventional radiology is a medical specialization that involves performing a range of imaging and therapeutic procedures to diagnose and treat many clinical problems. Vascular & interventional radiologists focus on diseases of the blood vessels and lymphatic system, but also treat other conditions such as cancer and infertility. They perform minimally invasive treatments that have less risk, pain, and recovery time compared to open surgery.
