Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Indu Sabnani, who serves patients in Maplewood, New Jersey.

A devoted hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Sabnani is the Chief Medical Officer of Pulmonomy. She specializes in bloodless medicine, with expertise in the treatment of lymphoma.

“Pulmonomy is a bio-pharmaceutical company, ushering in a new era of Pulmonary Therapeutics. Our inhalation therapeutics target a range of life threatening infections. We develop novel treatments for patients who are immunocompromised . Our approach is a result of innovative molecular design in concert with optimal particle engineering for effective delivery. A native of India, Dr. Sabnani earned her medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Science in Delhi. After relocating to the United States, she completed her residency at the United Hospital Medical Center and her fellowship at the University of Medicine & Dentistry New Jersey.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the doctor is board-certified in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Among her other roles, Dr. Sabnani is the Director of Loving Care Oncology Clinic, and is affiliated with Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Morristown Medical Center, and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

Recognized for her dedication to her field, Dr. Sabnani has been the recipient of Jersey’s Best Magazine Top Doctor Award (2010-2020), Jersey’s Best – Top Doctors for Cancer Award (2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), Exceptional Women in Medicine Award (2020), and New York Magazine Top Doctor Award (2021).

On a more personal note, she is fluent in English, Hindi, and Spanish.
