A 1989 graduate of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Dr. Kontny went on to complete her internship and residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. She then became board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge in the field of surgery.
In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, she is a member of the American College of Phlebology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the American Society of Breast Disease.
