Get to know Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr. Joan Alvarez, who serves the population of Florida. Dr. Alvarez graduated with his Medical Degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 2008, giving him over a decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his Medical Degree he practiced alongside his father, who is also an OB-GYN. After relocating to the United States he completed his Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency at Yale New Haven Health/Bridgeport Hospital, which is affiliated with the Yale School of Medicine. He also worked alongside world renowned surgeons during his volunteer trips with the USAID, Heart to Heart Mission, and the International Children’s Heart Foundation in helping under-served communities in Honduras and the Dominican Republic. To stay up to date in his field, Dr. Alvarez remains a professional member of the American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists, American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, and the American Medical Association. He currently practices with the Women’s Health & Wellness Center where he practices as a Obstetrician and Gynecologist, where holda an expertise in gynecologic minimally invasive/robotic surgery. Additionally he is affiliated with the Memorial Regional Hospital. Dr. Alvarez is bilingual and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
