Do I go back to ER or do I wait?
I recommend that you go back to the ER for re-evaluation. READ MORE
Stomach pain?
Yes, I suggest getting your abdominal pain evaluated. READ MORE
Food allergy hives?
The answer to this is going to vary depending on how much exposure you had to what triggered your system and the reaction of your system. Everyone is different. Benadryl can control hives, but wears off after 4-6 hrs. Typically allergic reactions will also be treated with steroids and/or even famotidine in addition to benadryl to calm the reaction. The treatment will typically be prescribed for at least 5 days. READ MORE
Paracetamol toxicity?
The maximum dose would be 4,000mg in 24 hrs. This medication is metabolized through the liver and can cause liver damage if taken over the recommended dosage. Recommend seeking medical attention. READ MORE
Ambulance or ER?
I recommend ED evaluation. The tingling may be due to fast shallow breathing resulting in low CO2 levels and subsequent tingling sensation Try to slow your breathing or breath into a paper bag if this is the case. Otherwise, with you age and reported chest tightness I would recommend ED evaluation to r/o cardiac and other possibly significant causes of your symptoms. READ MORE
Chest pain?
Due to the duration of symptoms, the condition does not seem to be immediately life threatening. I do not know the specifics of your CP, but I see you have a hx of fibromyalgia/osteoarthritis. Chest pain can be from a musculoskeletal cause. Meaning the muscles/bones/cartilage/joints could be inflamed causing pain. If you do not trust your providers and think you need further testing, I recommend getting a second opinion. Otherwise, you can request to see a pain specialist to help determine ways to control you pain. READ MORE
Carbon monoxide poisoning?
Yes, I would get him re-evaluated. READ MORE
Rectocele symptoms?
Since this has been so long standing you may benefit for primary doctor evaluation and referral. If you have pain, bleeding, fever/chills, or any serious or severe symptoms then suggest ER evaluation. READ MORE
When should you go to ER for abdominal pain?
Some people have chronic abdominal pain (>1 mo) that has been evaluated by testing and they have already seen specialists. These patients will most likely not benefit from an ED evaluation. However, if the pain is different or more severe, it requires reevaluation. If you feel that your abdominal pain is different than you have experienced or is severe, then you need an evaluation. I took atenolol 5mg twice today 8 hours apart?
Taking an extra dose of atenolol can result in low heart rates and blood pressures. If possible you should monitor your heart rates and if 50 or below, seek medical attention. You can always call the Poison control line and they can direct you in what to do and check in on you till the medication wears off in about 6-12 hrs. READ MORE
Can a person develop Co2 narcosis and become unconscious without obvious signs of distress?
Yes. Someone can develop CO2 narcosis and not realize anything is wrong. They may just think they are tired. Eventually they will became altered and become less and less conscious. READ MORE
Shoulder injury?
Recommend going to the ED or orthopedic walk in for evaluation. READ MORE
High blood pressure?
If you develop numbness, weakness, vision changes, chest pain, shortness of breath, decreased urination then go to the ED. If not, though it is not an ideal blood pressure, it is not an acutely dangerous blood pressure. I would suggest contacting your primary doctor or doctor that prescribed your blood pressure medication for guidance. Avoid high sodium foods. Relax, try over the counter medication for your headache and recheck your blood pressure again. If still elevated and you’re concerned and/or primary doctor has not returned your call then you can go to the ED for evaluation. READ MORE
