Back in 1983, she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedicine from the City University of New York, and completed her medical education at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1985. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in pediatrics at the University Hospital at Stony Brook in 1987, and her fellowship in pediatric neurology at the Mount Sinai Hospital in 1990.

A member of the American Academy of Neurology, the doctor attained board certification in neurology and child neurology through the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
