  • I have just suffered a slip Disc. After how long can I start by back exercises?

A person doesn't undergo a slipped disc. Its an injury that takes place, displacing part or all of the disc itself, with or without a tear to it. I don't know the procedure done to you so can't give a definitive answer. Spaces already exist between vertebra where the discs exist. When looking on an MRI, thin disc spacing is indicative of either degeneration or a "slipped" or "herniated" or bulging disc. I would ask your surgeon/doctor and or PT. Hope i helped. Got your back! • What is the best kind of desk chair recommended for my condition?

You get what you pay for. I would go to an Ergonomic chair store, or look up on Amazon or other vendors of office chairs, reviews of good chairs and find a less expensive version of the same one somewhere else perhaps. There is no 1 Best Chair. Hope i helped. Got your back! Dr. Todd Gewant- Chiropractor READ MORE

  • My back has become very hunched. Should I see a chiropractor?

Yes, to answer your question. Xrays would help also to determine if osteoporosis or degeneration is the cause or just poor posture. Hope i helped. Got your back! Dr. Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • My mother has been having pain in her legs, mainly while sitting. Can a chiropractor help in any way?

Sounds either musclo-skeletal or circulatory, considering her age. An evaluation would be a good first step either with an Orthopedist or Internist to rule out circulatory issues. If it is indeed musculo-skeletal, a Chiropractor bringing balance to her structure will take pressure of tendons and muscles and alleviate some of her issues, as it does in many cases. Hope i helped. • I have a weird discomfort in my right leg. What could it be?

The timing, duration of this issue, frequency of this issue are important to help you diagnose this problem. Perhaps try rolling on a foam roller to see if its just a knot in the muscle, and stretch it. If that doesn't help, i would get an evaluation from a Chiropractor, PT, or Orthopedist to investigate further in person. Hope i helped. Got you back! Dr. Todd Gewant- Chiropractor READ MORE

  • I am having a lot of hip pain that doctors say is due to spinal degeneration. Can a chiropractor help?

Seeing a chiropractor would most likely help, but if the degeneration is too severe, perhaps using a low force technique or non force technique. Hope i helped. Got your back! Dr. Todd Gewant- Chiropractor READ MORE

  • My mother's back is hunching. Can a chiropractor help?

Yes a Chiropractor can help, but X-rays are imperative to see if the hunching is due to osteoporosis and deterioration of the anterior portion of her vertebra, causing an anterior collapse of the vertebra, leading to a hunch. Manual manipulation would not be the best fit, but non-force techniques and being taught extension exercises will definitely help. Hope i helped. Got your back! • Can a chiropractor help in treating migraines?

80% roughly of headaches or migraines are cervicogenic, meaning it is associated with the neck. Absolutely, a Chiropractor can help you with your issues. That many migraines may warrant either MRI of neck or CT of brain. Hope I helped. Got your back. Dr Todd Gewant READ MORE

Burning pain is called Causalgia and can be caused by muscular injury or impingement of sensory fibers of nerves going to your thighs which originate in the lumbar spine. A Chiropractor would be a great choice to evaluate the cause of this issue. Hope I helped, Got your back! Dr Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help with migraines?

Medication lessens pain, but doesn't correct the cause of the migraine. 80% (roughly) of migraines or headaches are cervicogenic, meaning they're caused in the cervical spine. • Does an ortho cushion work for sitting long hours?

If it keeps you comfortable and hasn’t led to discomfort, I see no harm. Hope I helped. Got your back! Dr. Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • My mother in law has severe pain in her hips. Can a chiropractor help?

At 72 years old, X-rays are the first step to investigate to see levels of osteoarthritis and/or osteoporosis. Then, a better answer to your question will be appropriate. Balance of hips and spine are important, but I would look for a non-forceful practitioner using SOT blocks or drop table techniques. Hope I was of help. Got your back! Dr. Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • How can a chiropractor help me treat my hip pain?

A chiropractor can definitely treat and correct the condition, but you must also find what the provoking factor is, and if it is always when that factor is present when your symptoms flare. Your seat may be the problem and may be corrected with a lumbar support pad/pillow for your car seat, if that IS the only time it truly gets aggravated. A good Chiro will help you find the provoking factors so you can heal and put the injury behind you, instead of a come-and-go disorder. Hope I helped. Got your back! Dr. Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • My left shoulder seems to sit lower than my right. Can it be resolved?

Hi there, It can be due to a few things. First, it may just be your structure. It may also be due to a mild scoliosis. Or, you may simply be misaligned. A chiropractic evaluation and/or X-rays will get to the root of the issue. Hope I helped, got your back! Dr. Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help me with my neck pain?

Absolutely. Along with doing your homework or at home exercises and stretches, together, will help tremendously. Any good Chiro will find your tightness and weakness and teach you the exercises to do at home while they focus on the balance of your spine. Hope I helped. Got your back, Dr. Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • Why do I have back pain while eating?

Questions in return are: 1. Is it pain in back ONLY when sitting to eat? Or whenever you sit? 2. Any change in diet or digestive issues related? 3. Where in the low back is the pain: centered on the spine or out to the side of the spine, or does it radiate into the gluteal area or into lower extremity? I would love to give you an easy answer, but there are many variables that need to be addressed. If it continues, I would consult a primary care or a chiropractor to do an exam, which would address the questions I asked you and help specifically diagnose the issue at hand. Hope I helped. Got your back! Dr. Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • I have a pain in my neck every morning. Can you tell me what could it be?

Could be as simple as a bad pillow, considering it’s in the morning your neck hurts consistently. If it’s every morning, the cause is happening from what you are doing prior, which is sleeping. If a new pillow doesn’t fix the problem, consult a Chiropractor for eval. Hope I helped. Got your back! Dr Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • My mother suffered Bell's Palsy and is now recovering. Can a chiropractor help at this stage?

Tricky disorder. It can, but not a definitive treatment or cure. My mother developed it after caring for her late husband. The stress was just too much. She never improved from it over time, just deals with it. I have, however, seen complete resolution of it multiple times both in my practice, as well as with a best friend. It's definitely worth a try. Hope I helped. Got your back, Dr. Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • I feel my posture has bent after delivery. What can I do?

Hi there, If there is pain when you extend, you may have to see a chiropractor to align your spine before you begin posture exercises. If you go directly to new exercise or stretches without a balanced spine, you will feel discomfort strengthening and stretching muscles and ligaments out of alignment. When you do so, ask them to show you doorway posture exercises/stretches or corner stretches to strengthen between shoulder blades and stretch the chest and anterior shoulder muscles at same time. Hope I helped. Got your back! Dr. Todd Gewant READ MORE

  • I am having pain around my hamstrings. Can I see a chiropractor for this?

Sorry to hear about your hamstring issue. I would try light stretching with moist heat. The hamstrings attach to the bottom of the pelvis, on the sit bone. If your pelvis is misaligned, it is going to pull on the hamstring. It may help in letting the muscle heal in its actual position to get adjusted, if the light stretching with moist heat doesn't work. Hope I helped. Got your back, Dr. Todd Gewant READ MORE
