Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Omaran Abdeen, who serves patients in Mission Hills, California.

Considered one of the preeminent doctors specializing in nephrology, Dr. Abdeen is a Partner at Kidney Consultants Medical Group in Mission Hills, California. Excelling in practicing nephrology and treating patients with kidney disease and hypertension, his responsibilities include dialysis care management, hospital management, consultation, and supervision of administrative responsibilities at affiliate hospitals.

Back in 1994, Dr. Abdeen earned his medical degree from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship, residency, and fellowship training at the University of California San Diego Medical Center. He served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego from 2001-2003, and is currently affiliated with Providence Holy Cross Medical Center – Mission Hills. 

A Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN) and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care when the time comes.
