Dr. Nickell is a board-certified urologist who is currently serving patients at Houston Metro Urology in Texas. Houston Metro Urology is the largest, single specialty urology practice in the greater Houston area with 10 convenient locations. The practice offers patients comprehensive, one-stop, urological services including laboratory testing, imaging, radiation treatment, voiding dysfunction center, and many more dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of urological health needs. 

Dr. Nickell has practiced general male and female urology in southwest Houston since 1996. The son of medical missionary parents, his goal in practice is to always do the very best for his patients. 

Dr. Nickell is also affiliated with Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, CHI St. Luke’s Health–Sugar Land Hospital, West Houston Hospital, and Oak Bend Hospital. 

Dr. Nickell graduated with his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1989. He then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at Yale – New Haven Hospital in 1991, followed by his fellowship in urology at Baylor College of Medicine in 1995. 

Dr. Nickell is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Urological Association, the Texas Urological Society, the Houston Urology Society, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Nickell is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, as well as working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to insure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.

Dr. Nickell has published several peer-reviewed papers and made presentations at national scientific meetings.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists, like Dr. Nickell, specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
