Dr. Duffy is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician who has been practicing since 1990. He is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, and Internal Medicine. His residency in PM&R was completed at Emory University, Atlanta, GA. where he was Chief Resident. Internal Medicine residency was completed at Mercy Catholic Medical Center, Darby, PA.
Dr. Duffy has extensive experience in treating conditions involving nerve and musculoskeletal pain. A great deal of his previous practice involved comprehensive Inpatient rehabilitation of spine disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury, joint replacement, spinal cord injury, and degenerative neurological conditions (Multiple Sclerosis, Neuropathy, Parkinson’s Disease, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
Dr. Duffy has served as Medical Director of the Gunderson Rehabilitation Center at the Greater Hazleton Health Alliance and Program Director of the Acquired Brain Injury Program at the John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation in Wilkes Barre, PA.
Dr. Duffy’s outpatient practice has consisted of treatment and evaluation of patients with neuromusculoskeletal pain, EMG testing, and interventional pain procedures (Epidural steroid injections, facet joint treatments, joint injections, intrathecal drug therapies, spinal cord stimulation, and Botox therapy for headaches and spasticity.
Dr. Duffy’s approach to pain management involves comprehensive evaluation to determine the pain source. Treatment options are then presented to the patient to include rehabilitation therapies, medical management, and appropriate interventional pain procedures. Patient education is an integral part of his care.
