A board-certified endocrinologist, Dr. Semakula works with patients at North Memorial Health Clinic – Blaine North. He approaches customer care by taking the entire person into perspective as well as gaining a thorough understanding of everyone’s medical and socioeconomic needs.

Before embarking on his professional journey, he graduated with his medical degree from the University of Dar es Salaam Faculty of Medicine in Tanzania in 1987, and relocated to Belgium where he completed his Master of Science degree at Free University in Brussels. Upon arriving in the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism at the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1999 and 2001, respectively.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.
