With a broad educational background, Dr. Muhletaler graduated with his medical degree from Cayetano Heredia University in Peru. He then moved to Michigan, where he completed his residency in urology and fellowship training at the Vattikuti Urology Institute, Henry Ford Hospital. He spent more than 9 years training under Dr. Mani Menon, who is a world-renowned pioneer in robotic surgery. In 2002, he was probably the first medical student in the world to have second-assisted a robot-assisted radical prostatectomy.
In his current capacity, Dr. Muhletaler serves as the Director of Robotic Urologic Surgery at Palms West Hospital and Palm Beach Advanced Robotics. He also holds privileges at Wellington Regional Medical Center and JFK Medical Center (Main Campus and North Campus).
To date, he has participated in over 1,100 robotic procedures in urology of very diverse nature: oncology, female urology, urologic reconstruction, urologic transplant, and more.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of the American Urological Association, he is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to insure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
