  • What is causing my back pain?

It sounds as if you may have a misaligned rib at the Costovertebral joint of one of your upper ribs in your back. Manipulation of those joints could be very helpful. Find a good Chiropractor in your area and get an exam to properly diagnose your issue and get some effective treatment. I hope it helps. Take care and be well. READ MORE

  • Is a chiropractor good for shoulder pain?

Yes. A good chiropractor should be able to accurately diagnose the cause of your shoulder pain and recommend treatment to correct the problem. If an MRI is necessary to determine diagnosis, a chiropractor can order it and review findings with you. Dr. Eric Miller - Orland Park, IL READ MORE

  • Can sleeping wrong cause shoulder blade pain?

Yes, it can. This is most common with people that sleep on their sides. Try to sleep flat on your back. It may take a few weeks to get used to it. You may need to get some treatment for the upper back/shoulder pain if there is already a problem in that area. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE

  • Is it safe for a senior to get a chiropractic adjustment?

Absolutely. Unless you have really bad osteoporosis or have some pathology that would not respond well to manipulation. Any good Chiropractor will perform an examination and more than likely a few X-rays to make an accurate diagnosis and to make sure that manipulation is a safe choice of therapy for you. I hope it helps. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE

  • What can a chiropractor do for my back?

First, a chiropractor should be able to diagnose the cause of your back pain. Back pain is not normal. There is a problem causing the symptoms. Second, a good chiropractor should be able to suggest an appropriate, effective treatment plan to fix the cause of your symptoms. A combination of manipulation, stretching, muscle work and physical therapy modalities should be able to resolve your symptoms and fix the cause. If not, pain management and/or surgery may be necessary. Try conservative treatment first, surgery only if necessary. Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE

  • Is a chiropractor best for neck pain?

In my experience as a Chiropractic Physician for over 30 years, I can attest that Chiropractic manipulation of the neck for most causes of neck pain is the absolute best. If there is a severe disc bulge or herniation, then it is not recommended. A combination of manipulation, muscle stretching, trigger point therapy and maybe traction will resolve most cases of neck pain. If it doesn't work, a referral to an ortho for surgical consult is usually warranted. Try Chiropractic first! Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE

  • Can you go to a chiropractor once?

You can go to a chiropractor one time, but that may not fix the problem. It really depends on the problem. Is it acute or chronic? Is it a simple fixation or is the entire pelvis and spine misaligned? I have had several patients that came in and felt better after the first adjustment, but I have had many that were still symptomatic even after several treatments. It is best to get an exam and get a proper diagnosis with a treatment plan and try it out. Your body is yours. You can discontinue treatment anytime you like. READ MORE

  • Can your back being out of alignment cause shortness of breath?

Absolutely. Misalignments of the thoracic spine and especially the costovertebral joints (rib to vertebrae connection) can cause difficulty taking a good inspiration. Adjustments can help tremendously. However, do make sure that your physician checks your heart and lungs to make sure that there is not a problem there. Take care and be well. Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE

  • Can chiropractors realign your spine?

Yes. Adjustments to the spine can help to improve the alignment of the spine. Misalignments of the spine add stress to the spinal segments that are not in the proper position and that increase in stress can cause increased degenerative changes. READ MORE

  • How long does it take to realign your hip?

That really depends on what is causing the malalignment and how severe it is. You have age on your side. I would assume there are not many complicating factors. You may need an orthotic in the shoe to help balance the pelvis if there is a leg length discrepancy. Good luck and stick with the treatment plan. READ MORE

  • How do chiropractors know where to adjust?

Chiropractors know what spinal segments to adjust by using both static and motion palpation as well as X-rays. Palpation is when the physician touches the area and applies slight pressure to access tissue tension and intersegmental motion of the vertebral joints. joints that need to be adjusted will have a change in motion of that segment and often some muscular tension around that joint as well. READ MORE

  • Is it bad to crack your back every day?

It is not bad to "crack" your back every day. Popping the joints repeatedly (multiple times in a day) can lead to loose ligaments that surround the joint. The bigger question should be why you feel the need to "crack" it everyday? Often, if there is misalignment that is not corrected, you will feel the need to "crack" the joint frequently to get some short-term relief. If you get an exam by a good chiropractic physician and determine the cause of stress, the doctor should be able to provide a series of treatments to correct the problem. READ MORE

  • I have knee pain?

Good luck with the arthroscopic surgery. I am sure they will find the problem then and clean it up a bit. Make sure you keep up with the prescribed PT. Take care and be well. READ MORE

  • Why does a chiropractor crack your neck?

Chiropractors often use manipulation of spinal joints or extremity joints to reduce misalignment or to free joints that have lost full range of motion. When a joint has lost its full range of motion or rests in an abnormal position, manipulation can help to restore the normal alignment and movement patterns. During manipulation, there is often a "pop" or "crack" that comes from opening the joint space and releasing the pressure similar to opening a can of soda. READ MORE

  • Can a diabetic go to the chiropractor?

Absolutely. I am a chiropractor and a type 1 diabetic. Diabetics do very well under Chiropractic care. READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help with tingling fingers?

Absolutely. The most common causes for tingling fingers are carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome or an irritated nerve in the neck. All causes respond well to chiropractic care if diagnosed and treated properly. Give it a try! READ MORE

  • Is it okay to crack your fingers?

It is OK to crack your knuckles. If done too often, the joints can become a little loose, but it does not cause arthritis as the myth goes. I don't recommend cracking them more than a few times a day. READ MORE

  • How do you stretch out your lower back?

This is a really good spinal stretch. This traditional yoga pose gently stretches your gluteus maximus , thigh muscles, and spinal extensors. It helps to relieve pain and tension all along your spine, neck, and shoulders. Its relaxing effect on your body also helps to loosen up tight lower back muscles, promoting flexibility and blood circulation along the spine. To do Child’s Pose, follow these steps: 1. With your hands and knees on the ground, sink back through your hips to rest them on your heels. 2. Hinge at your hips as you fold forward, walking your hands out in front of you. 3. Rest your belly on your thighs. 4. Extend your arms in front of or alongside your body with your palms facing up. 5. Focus on breathing deeply and relaxing any areas of tension or tightness. 6. Hold this pose for up to 1 minute. You can do this pose several times during your stretching routine. Feel free to do it between each of the other stretches you do. Also, try Cat-Cow stretch and spinal twists. Share on Pinterest. READ MORE

  • Do chiropractors give exercises?

Absolutely, a good chiropractor should give the patient stretches and exercises to perform at home to help support the joints. READ MORE

  • Is it safe to see a chiropractor with a herniated disc?

Absolutely. The physician may not want to do many rotary type manipulations to the level of herniation, but a combination of flexion-distraction technique and disc decompression treatment and various therapies should be extremely beneficial. If the therapy is not effective, surgery may be needed. READ MORE
