Can chiropractic issues cause chest pain?
If you are having chest pain, you should definitely get a checkup with your family doctor or urgent care and make sure there aren't any serious issues such as cardiovascular or respiratory issues. After those have been ruled out, the next step is to find out if the pain is coming from esophageal, gastric or musculoskeletal origins. An appointment with a chiropractic physician should help to determine the actual cause and the proper treatment plan. I hope this info is helpful. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE
Why can't I straighten my arms after bicep workout?
It sounds like you may be overtraining the biceps causing them to tighten too much therefore causing difficulty in extending the elbow. Try stretching the biceps and strengthening the triceps as well. If the condition worsens, take some time off from curls to give the biceps time to heal. READ MORE
What is the best treatment for shoulder impingement?
When you have shoulder impingement, you must decompress the area of impingement. So first, you need to know why the area has narrowed. Is it a problem with the size and slope of the acromion of the shoulder blade or is it the angle of the scapula or shoulder blade itself? If it is bony prominence that is genetic or degenerative (should not be degenerative at your age), then acromioplasty may be necessary. However, if the narrowing is caused by increased tension in the muscles of the rotator cuff (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis and teres minor), stretching exercises may be beneficial. Codman's exercises are a good start to stretch the glenohumeral joint. Also check any muscle that attaches to the scapulae such as the triceps, biceps, pecs and rhomboids for increased tension and trigger points. Basically stretch and foam roll or percuss/massage all muscles that attach to the shoulder blade. Having the help of a professional can save you a lot of time with trial and error. I hope this info is helpful for you. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE

Chiropractic manipulation of the cervical spine is one of the most if not the most effective treatments for neck pain. A skilled chiropractic physician should be able to determine an accurate diagnosis for the cause of neck pain and perform the proper treatment. Give it a try! Take care and be well. Can a neck out of alignment cause dizziness?
Yes. Neck misalignment may contribute to or cause dizziness or vertigo. There are many causes of both symptoms. The physician should evaluate blood pressure, inner ear/semi circular canals as well as neck to properly diagnose the cause of your symptoms. Good luck. Can stretching aggravate sciatica?
Unfortunately, sometimes stretching can aggravate conditions such as sciatica. But, sometimes it is a necessary aggravation. often, stretching the glutes, piriformis, or lower back can aggravate symptoms initially, but often helps loosen the muscles which may be causing pressure on the nerve. Go at it gently at first and try to increase intensity with time. Try ice if it gets too sore. Good luck. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric MIller READ MORE
Do professional athletes use chiropractors?
Absolutely. Most professional sports teams have a professional relationship with Chiropractors. Back in the nineties, the San Francisco 49ers were one of the first professional teams to bring on a Chiropractic physician to aid their team. Now, about 80 percent of the teams use Chiropractic regularly. Chiropractic works very well in coordination with physical therapy, pain management and athletic training. I hope you find this info helpful. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE
Should I see a doctor or chiropractor for hip pain?
You can see either type of physician to get an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your hip pain. The difference really lies in the therapy to treat the problem causing the symptoms. If you go to the M.D., you will more than likely receive a prescription for a pain killer, anti-inflammatory and/or muscle relaxant. You may also receive a script for physical therapy. The medications prescribed will not fix the problem causing your symptoms, but can help to relieve the discomfort. If you go to the D.C., you should get the same diagnosis with more emphasis placed on the cause of the symptoms, not just masking the symptoms. The treatment would be similar to physical therapy with the addition of manipulation if necessary. Chiropractic care should be very effective treatment for your hip pain. If surgery is necessary, both physicians should make the appropriate referral to an orthopedic surgeon. I hope this info is helpful. Take care and be well. I hope you find relief quickly. Spinal stenosis?
You should be able to go back to your chiropractor or a different one and just have less aggressive treatment. More stretching, muscle work and mobilization with less aggressive manipulation. If the treatment is too painful, then the provider needs to back off the intensity and be gentler. There is no better treatment. it just needs to be performed differently. I hope this information helps. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE
How do you fix hip misalignment?
It really depends on what is causing the hip misalignment. First, X-rays should be performed and evaluated to determine if there is any hip pathology, then alignment between the hips should be evaluated. If there is hip height discrepancy, then the cause of the misalignment should be determined. The hips and the sacroiliac joints should both be evaluated for position and movement patterns as well as associated muscular tensions. Balancing the hips and pelvis is crucial to having a strong and supported core. Stretching, mobilization and manipulation of the associated joints and muscles can help to balance most misalignment issues. The use of orthotics in the shoes can help with greater hip height discrepancy issues. I hope this info is helpful. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE
Can I see my chiropractor and massage therapist during covid-19?
Hello, Yes, you may see your chiropractor during this crisis. Chiropractic is considered an essential service and many offices have remained open. The office should still practice social distancing between the patients and masks should be worn by the providers and the patients if the state requires those policies. Massage therapists are back to work in most states now. Again, proper cleaning and masking should be evident if required. READ MORE

How do I relieve sciatic nerve pain?
First, you must find out the cause of the sciatica. It could be a disc problem, a joint problem or a muscular tension problem causing irritation to the nerve. I would suggest an examination to determine the actual cause of the sciatica and an MRI to see if there is a discal component. The cure for sciatica is to determine where the pinch is coming from and take the pressure off the nerve. Stretching muscles such as gluteus medius, piriformis and paraspinal muscles may be helpful. Manipulation of the spinal joints and/or decompression of the discs and joints may also be helpful. If not, consider pain management injections and lastly surgery such as partial discectomy to eliminate cause of pressure to the nerve. I hope this info is helpful. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE
Can chiropractors adjust your ribs?
Yes, they can. Ribs are connected to the sternum and the spine. There are joints where they attach to both. When ribs become stuck or slightly misaligned, manipulation can help to restore normal position and motion patterns. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor help a slipped rib?

What shouldn't you do if you have scoliosis?
It really depends on the severity of your curvature(s). There is already increased stress at the apexes so avoiding activities that put additional load on those areas is good. However, having strong erector spinae muscles can take some of the load off the vertebrae and associated discs. The less severe the curvature, the more load the curve can take. Be careful doing exercises like squats and deadlifts if your curvature is greater than 20 degrees. You should be seeing a Chiropractic physician that works with scoliotic patients to stop the progression and perhaps straighten the curvature some. The apexes of the curves will more than likely get degenerative changes (arthritis) faster than the other levels due to the increase in stress and inflammation. Keep stretching and exercising. Try to do mirror image exercises to help reduce the curves. I hope this info is helpful. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE
Why does a chiropractor crack your neck?
They only "crack your neck", known as an adjustment if you have a restriction in motion of of a joint in the neck. These restrictions can come about as the result of subtle misalignments of the joint or increase in muscular tension. The adjustment often releases the joint movement restriction and loosens the associated muscular tension which helps the neck to be less painful and more functional. Take care and be well. How do I stop my shoulder from hurting when I sleep?
Hello, It sounds as if you probably have a shoulder issue if it hurts when you sleep on it. Changing the position you sleep in is a way to decrease the pain. Sleeping on your back instead of your side often helps. However, that change will not fix your shoulder problem. Find a good Chiropractor, Orthopedic or Osteopath that specializes in orthopedics to determine the actual cause of your pain and get the appropriate treatment. Simple mechanical problems in joints can end up causing arthritis and tendonitis if not treated properly. Keep stretching and strengthening the body. Take care and be well, Dr. Eric Miller READ MORE
