Thanks for your question, Disorders that cause liver disease are considered “hepatocellular” when ALT and AST predominate. In medical practice, if AST/ALT ratio are 2:1 usually indicate Alcohol hepatitis, or some excess alcohol intake and not Cirrhosis of the liver per se.
