Is it safe to give colic aid frequently to babies?
I assume you are using simeticone which is harmless but also useless. Colic has to resolve by itself. The cause is unknown but is thought to be adaptation to extra uterine life READ MORE
My child is throwing up milk just after feeding. Is it normal?
Depends. If it’s just a spit, it’s probably ok. If it’s most of the feed and particularly if it’s projectile, it could be serious. Take the baby to the doctor if you're concerned. READ MORE
What should we know about jaundice?
Depends. Most jaundice is mild and self resolves or requires only phototherapy. If there are blood group incompatibilities or other causes of excess red cell destruction it can be more concerning. Bilirubin levels (usually done with a transcutaneous device) should be checked and plotted on a chart to see what therapy, if any, is needed. READ MORE
We are planning my wife’s delivery at 37 weeks. Is it risky?
Cord around the neck is pretty common and not usually an indication for early delivery. Without more details I can't say more READ MORE
My baby who is 8 months old had convulsions. What could be the reason?
I only take care of newborn babies, but this could be febrile seizures or something more serious. Please see your pediatrician or go to the ER. READ MORE
What could be cause of sepsis in a newborn?
Early onset neonatal sepsis is a very serious and potentially fatal condition. It is acquired by transmission of a colonizing bacteria in the mother to the infant during labor and delivery through no fault of her own. Coverage with broad spectrum antibiotics and supportive care are the remedies. Hope the baby does well READ MORE
How common is newborn jaundice?
Jaundice is one of the most common problems in newborns. Phototherapy is usually effective and takes a few days. High bilirubin levels can cause brain damage so the phototherapy is used to prevent dangerous levels READ MORE
