Dr. Smith is a highly-trained neurosurgeon whose areas of special interest include sacroiliac disease, lumbar disc and degenerative diseases, peripheral nerve tumors, cervical spine disc and degenerative diseases, cranial issues, as well as complex and minimally invasive spine surgeries. He brings nearly three decades of practical experience to North Texas Neurosurgical and Spine Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
At North Texas Neurosurgical and Spine Center, the multidisciplinary neurosurgical team offers more than 70 years of combined experience in advanced treatments of the brain and spine. They are dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care to treat spine and nervous system disorders and trauma.
After earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984, Dr. Smith went on to complete his internship and residency in Neurological Surgery at Doctors Hospitals in Columbus, Ohio.
Before long, he became board-certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, which is an organization that provides board certification to qualified DOs who specialize in the use of surgery to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of Neurological disease.
In practice since 1990, Dr. Smith is affiliated with several hospitals that are a part of the Texas Health network, including Texas Health Midtown, Texas Health HEB, and primarily Texas Health Fort Worth.
In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (FACOS), the doctor is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the North American Spine Society.
