  • Do fixed retainers stop teeth from moving?

Yes, fixed retainers are one of the best "insurance" policies to keep your teeth from shifting or relapsing. READ MORE

  • Is it hard to chew because of TMJ?

Yes, TMJ can cause chewing to be only slightly annoying to VERY painful. What happens is that your jaw joint is positioned too far back in it's housing of the skull causing the protective jelly-like disc to slip forward off of the top of your joint. This then means that bone is touching bone when you open, yawn, chew, talk, etc. This is not normal. READ MORE

  • Why are my teeth decaying so fast?

Tooth decay takes four things to occur.... teeth, time, bacteria and sugar in some form. My questions back to you would be - 1. How well do you remove all of the plaque each time you brush? 2. Do you regularly see your friendly dentist for professional cleanings? Both of these things will greatly reduce your chances of decay happening over and over. Hope this helps. READ MORE

  • Can sinus infections cause tooth pain?

Yes, they can... especially the upper back molars as the roots of those teeth are usually very intimate with the floor of the sinus. I would see your MD and then give it time for the sinus infection to clear. If you still have tooth pain after that, see your friendly dentist as you could have a tooth infection as well. READ MORE

Get to know Dentist Dr. Mendy Ritchie, who serves patients in Marble Falls, Texas.

Dr. Ritchie has extensive experience in orthodontics and general dentistry. Both areas have allowed her to create healthy and beautiful smiles for patients over the years. At her private dental practice, Braced Orthodontics, she and her staff do not just straighten patients’ teeth but they also strive to create a healthy bite and overall beautiful profile. With every adult and child who visits Braced Orthodontics, Dr. Ritchie works to get them the smile of their dreams, helping to build their confidence, happiness, and overall oral health.

With an extensive dental education background, Dr. Ritchie completed her undergraduate degree at Texas Tech University. She then graduated in 2000 with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio which, at the time, was the No. 1 dental school in the nation. Thereafter, she went on to complete all orthodontic training courses at LVI Global, as well as a full orthodontic continuum with the experienced Dr. Robert Gerety. In addition, she completed training in pediatric dentistry to be able to better serve younger patients.

While practicing in Marble Falls over the past 18 years, she has continually learned ways in which she can improve patient care. Today, she continues her education with 50 to 100 hours of continuing education per year.

To further advance her professional development, Dr. Ritchie remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Crown Council, the American Orthodontic Society, and the International Association of Comprehensive Aesthetics.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. General dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

Outside of the office, Dr. Ritchie loves spending time with the people in her community. At home, she loves reading and listening to podcasts, as well as traveling throughout the world, especially to the Caribbean. She also loves running, having completed eight marathons and is working on her ninth.
