Dr. Muppavarapu is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. He is currently serving patients in the Orthopedics Department at Carney Hospital, which is a 159-bed community teaching hospital in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The hospital provides Dorchester and surrounding communities with convenient, local access to quality primary care, emergency medicine and a range of specialties and subspecialties including; critical care, family medicine, cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, ambulatory care, as well as adolescent, adult and geriatric psychiatry. Carney Hospital is also affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine and Tufts Medical Center.

Dr. Muppavarapu received his medical degree from the University of Illinois in 2009. He then went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at Tufts Medical Center, followed by his fellowship training in hand surgery at the New York University School of Medicine.

Dr. Muppavarapu is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). Founded in 1934, the ABOS exists to serve the best interest of the public and the medical profession by establishing educational standards for orthopaedic residents and by evaluating the initial and continuing qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
