Get to know Dentist Dr. David Miyasaki, who serves patients in Honolulu, Hawaii.

After spending his whole life around the dental industry, Dr. David Miyasaki decided to go into the family business and joined his father, Dr. Wilfred Miyasaki, at A Downtown Dental Group in 2014. Setting the bar high for Honolulu dentistry, they treat each patient as a part of their close-knit family and love to see each new smile that walks in the door.

Inheriting his father’s work ethic and eagerness to build lasting relationships with patients he wishes to serve for years to come, Dr. David has set his goals high so that one day he can take over the practice his father built from the ground up. He sincerely looks forward to getting to know his patients and help them achieve the type of smile and the confidence they desire with the gentlest touch and the latest techniques he has learned in his extensive schooling and continuing education.

Graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington, he went on to further his training by completing his dental education at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program at the UCLA School of Dentistry. Finally, he completed the California Implant Institute Annual Fellowship, endorsed by the UNLV School of Dental Medicine, before returning to Honolulu to join the practice.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. David is an active member of the Honolulu County Dental Society, the Hawaii Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Honolulu Young Dentist Group, and the Pacific Dental Study Group.

Active in the community, he provides dental services for the underserved, including extensive volunteer work and part-time staff at the Kalihi-Palama Health Center’s Medical and Dental Center in Honolulu.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

In his free time, Dr. David enjoys tennis and golf. He tries to spend as much time as possible with his wife, Nan, and his family. He enjoys eating out with his friends and hanging out with them at casual local hot spots like Ryan’s, various Japanese izakayas, and gourmet Chinese restaurants.
