Get to know Urologist Dr. Argil Wheelock, who serves patients throughout the State of Tennessee.
A skilled urologist, Dr. Wheelock is an Assistant Clinical Professor and the senior urologist at UT Urology at Erlanger, having started the practice in 2005. He worked in private practice for 17 years and then managed a national urologic services company for 9 years before coming to Erlanger.
The doctor is widely known for his work in introducing new technologies to the urologic community. He now works closely with the resident staff, overseeing the weekly resident clinic and the surgical procedures that emanate from the clinic.
With a broad educational background, Dr. Wheelock earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University. He served as captain and medical officer in the United States Army and completed residencies in general surgery and urology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
In addition to his clinical work, he is currently Chief Medical Officer of the Erlanger Medical Group wherein he promotes the well-being and success of the 200+ physicians employed by the Medical Center.
