Dr. McDowell is a consistent voice and oral health advocate in the community. He and his staff can be frequently found at many different local schools teaching kids the importance of maintaining a healthy smile.
Dr. McDowell has dedicated his career to making as many positive impacts as possible with his patients and within the community. “My greatest passion for creating beautiful smiles comes from the positive difference it makes in people’s lives” as said by Dr. McDowell.
As a Tampa Bay Area local, Dr. McDowell began his education at the University of South Florida and then earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree from the University of Florida. He then went on to complete his residency in orthodontics at the University of Louisville in 1987, after which he returned to Pinellas County to begin his private practice.
Dr. McDowell is board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontists (ABO). The ABO is the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and in affiliation with the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. McDowell is past President of the Pinellas Dental Board.
Dr. McDowell has achieved an Elite Diamond Provider Status for Invisalign due to his extensive level of education and experience with the exciting new technology. This level is awarded to only the top 1% of Invisalign providers in the world.
Every year, Dr. McDowell is a sponsor of Little League baseball and softball teams throughout Pinellas County. He also participates in local health fairs, various YMCAs, community projects, and more. Dr. McDowell enjoys spending time with his wife, Katie, and their four wonderful children – Pierce, Naomi, Natalia, and Milan.
