A Champion for Children’s Health, Dr. Lewis Brings Expertise and Compassion to Phoenix Children’s Hospital

Dr. Lewis is a highly respected pediatric neurologist and the Medical Director of Fetal Neurology at the Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. With extensive training and experience, she is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care, making her a trusted figure in the medical community and a regular honoree as a Top Doctor by PHOENIX Magazine.

A Phoenix native, she returned to her roots to pursue her medical education at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, following her undergraduate studies at Pomona College in California. Since joining Phoenix Children’s in June 2011, when the joint program with Barrow Neurological Institute was established, she has been instrumental in advancing clinical care, education, research, and advocacy services for her patients. 

Dr. Lewis specializes in a wide range of conditions, from headaches and migraines to cerebral palsy and other neurologic issues that can arise before and after birth. Her commitment to her patients is evident in her approach, which emphasizes listening to and respecting both children and their caregivers. “Each child presents a unique puzzle to solve,” Dr. Lewis states. “I strive to foster an environment where curiosity and empathy converge to create effective treatment plans.”

Board certified in neurology with a special qualification in child neurology, she also holds subspecialty board certification in headache medicine. Her dedication to her field is further demonstrated by her active participation in professional organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology and the Child Neurology Society. 

Not only a skilled clinician, Dr. Lewis is also a national speaker and prolific researcher. Her work has been featured in esteemed journals such as Current Pain and Headache Reports and Frontiers in Neurology. She is also a member of the medical advisory board for Make-A-Wish America, where her contributions extend beyond clinical practice to meet the needs of children facing life-threatening conditions.

When she is not seeing patients or conducting research, she cherishes her time with her husband and three children. She enjoys a variety of activities, including traveling, hiking, golfing, and attending live theater performances. She is also an avid college basketball fan, passionately cheering for her favorite teams.
