Dr. Fazilat is a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist with expertise in strabismus and pediatric ocular disorders. She is the Founder & Director of the Children’s Eye Center of Orange County in Lake Forest, California.
A well-loved kids eye doctor, her philosophy is to work closely with other ophthalmologists, pediatricians, family physicians, and optometrists to provide the most comprehensive care for each patient. Her technical skills in ocular surgery, along with her devoted approach to children as a whole, have helped to improve the quality of life of numerous patients with ocular disease.
Having spent many years teaching clinical and surgical skills to ophthalmology residents and pediatric ophthalmology fellows, Dr. Fazilat was recruited to serve as Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the Vision Center of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the University of Southern California-Keck School of Medicine.
A graduate of Howard University College of Medicine, Dr. Fazilat went on to perform her internship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She then performed her residency in ophthalmology at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. and subsequently completed her fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology amongst a selective elite group of residents at the USC/Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Achieving excellence, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
In affiliation with multiple medical societies, Dr. Fazilat is an active member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus & the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Pediatric ophthalmology is a subspecialty of ophthalmology concerned with eye diseases, visual development, and vision care in children. Pediatric ophthalmologists focus on the development of the visual system and the various diseases that disrupt visual development in children. They also have expertise in managing the various ocular diseases that affect children, and are qualified to perform complex eye surgery as well as to manage children’s eye problems using glasses and medications.
