Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Mathew T. Legel, who serves patients in Rockford, Illinois. He currently serves patients at SwedishAmerican, a 357-bed non profit, teaching hospital located in Rockford, Illinois. As a division of UW Health, SwedishAmerican serves residents of 12 counties in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin through a dedicated and caring staff, a major acute care hospital and a free-standing outpatient cancer center in Rockford, a medical center in Belvidere, a network of 30 primary care and multi-specialty clinics and the region’s largest home healthcare agency. Their mission is to provide excellence in healthcare and compassionate service to the community. Furthermore, Dr. Legel is affiliated with UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic, a general hospital in Colonial Park, Pennsylvania. He was also awarded the academic and athletic all-American Cum Laude graduate from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Dr. Legel is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. As an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Legel tends to bones, ligaments, muscles, joints, nerves and tendons. He has a special interest in sports medicine, general orthopedic trauma, and adult reconstruction surgery including hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasty.
