He is a proud alumnus of the University of Colorado School of Medicine graduating with honors in 1973.
Recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (FAAO), he is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology. As an emeritus professor at the esteemed Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Anschutz Medical Campus, he continues to impart his knowledge and expertise to the next generation of eye care professionals. He served as Associate Examiner for American Board of Ophthalmology for 20 years.
