Dr. McMahon's educational background is as impressive as his professional accomplishments. He completed two fellowships in glaucoma at the prestigious Kellogg Eye Center University of Michigan  Ann Arbor, Michigan and University of California, San Francisco, following a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Michigan Health System. He is a proud alumnus of the University of Colorado School of Medicine graduating with honors in 1973.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (FAAO), he is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology. As an emeritus professor at the esteemed Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Anschutz Medical Campus, he continues to impart his knowledge and expertise to the next generation of eye care professionals. He served as Associate Examiner for American Board of Ophthalmology for 20 years.

Additionally, Dr. McMahon has served as an attending physician in the resident clinics at the University of Colorado Medical Center for three decades, further solidifying his commitment to advancing the field of ophthalmology through education and patient care.

When asked about the key to his success, he credits his insatiable curiosity for life. This passion for learning and innovation has driven him to continually enhance his skills and stay at the forefront of advancements in eye care.
