As a seasoned medical professional, Dr. Shinhar possesses extensive expertise across various aspects of pediatric ENT care. His proficiency spans ear diseases and hearing loss, chronic ear infections, corrective procedures for protruding ears, management of sleep apnea, treatment of tonsil and adenoid issues, sinus disease and surgical interventions, management of head and neck masses and tumors, addressing congenital abnormalities of the head and neck, as well as managing airway disorders and abnormalities.

Dr. Shinhar was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel, where he spent his formative years. Following his high school graduation, he pursued a medical education at the esteemed Sackler School of Medicine. Subsequently, he dedicated six years to serving as a medical officer in the Israeli Defense Forces, undertaking diverse field assignments alongside the troops, ultimately achieving the rank of captain. Upon completion of his military service, he embarked on a residency focused on otolaryngology and head and neck surgery.

During his residency, Dr. Shinhar developed an interest in pediatric ENT and decided to pursue it as his career. He was accepted to the acclaimed two-year fellowship program at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, where he graduated with honors.  

Following his fellowship, Dr. Shinhar joined the medical staff at Children’s Hospital, devoting four years to his practice at Memorial Hospital in Fremont, Ohio. There, he amassed extensive experience in pediatric ENT, conducting hundreds of surgical procedures and refining his technique, including his groundbreaking approach to Painless Tonsillectomy.

Relocating with his family to New York, Dr. Shinhar spent two years as part of a private practice group on Long Island affiliated with LIJ, further enriching his professional journey.

Currently, in addition to seeing patients at his private practice, he holds the prestigious position of Chief of Pediatric Otolaryngology at both Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital. Dr. Shinhar also serves as a pediatric ENT surgeon at the renowned New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan, is affiliated with Beth Israel Medical Center as a pediatric ENT specialist, and plays a vital role at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center, where he focuses on addressing airway diseases in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) infants.

Holding an academic appointment, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
