Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Physician Dr. Miguel Schmitz, who serves the population of Washington. He then attended the University of Washington Medical School and graduated with his Medical Degree with honors in 1990. During this time there he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor society and received Medical Honors for his Thesis in Biochemistry. He has over three decades of experience in the medical field. Experience: Dr. Schmitz completed his general surgery internship with the University of Texas Southwestern/Parkland Memorial/Dallas VA Medical Center/Children’s Medical Center, in Dallas Texas. He then completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Parkland Memorial Hospital, Children’s Medical Center, Zale Lipshy Medical Center, St. Paul Medical Center; Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, Dallas VA Medical Center, Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas Spine Hospital, and Norfolk & Norwich Medical Center in Norwich, U.K. Wanting to continue his training he completed his Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy fellowship with the University Of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital Kenneth DeHaven, MD and associates in Rochester, NY. He the completed his spine surgery fellowship with Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Programs. Dr. Schmitz is board certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and he has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. To remain up to date in his field he remains a professional member of the North American Spine Society, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Member. Current Position: Dr. Schmitz currently practices with the Alpine Orthopaedic & Spine, P.C. and is affiliated with the MultiCare Deaconess Hospital, Providence Holy Family Hospital, Whitman Hospital and Medical Center, and Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital.
